The Description helps identify the Server, not forcing the user to rely on sometimes-obscure machine names to identify or know where a machine is. The primary use for this description — in addition to the Server entry and maintenance screen — is on the Jobs screen, when deploying a job to a server.

As shown, the Add Job dialog window makes available a list of all defined Servers, including both the Server name and description.
